There’s something undeniably magical about a runway show—the lights, the music, the models strutting with purpose, and the energy in the air that signals something big is happening. Behind every show-stopping moment is a mountain of hard work (this is the stage that I am in right now), creativity, and a whole lot of dreaming big. Producing a runway show isn’t just about clothes; it’s about storytelling, artistry, and bringing a vision to life on one of the world’s most public stages. Let me tell you—if you’re going to dream, you might as well dream big.

The Vision: Where It All Begins

Every runway show starts with a vision. Whether it’s an emerging designer launching a new collection or a seasoned brand redefining its identity, the show is an extension of their creative story. Producing a runway show requires thinking far beyond clothes on models; it’s about curating an experience. What mood do you want to set? What message do you want to leave with the audience? These are the big questions that guide every creative decision—from the lighting to the soundtrack(this is crucial), to the choreography of each model. It’s about taking a creative spark and building an entire universe around it that unfolds in just a matter of minutes. And as a producer, it’s your job to make sure that spark doesn’t get lost in the process.

The Team:

Collaboration is Key Producing a runway show means surrounding yourself with people who see the vision as clearly as you do—and who aren’t afraid to bring their own ideas to the table. From designers and stylists to models, makeup artists, and lighting technicians, every person plays a crucial role in creating that magic on the runway. I am still cultivating my people, its a work in progress. Do not forget about the behind-the-scenes heroes—stage managers, PR teams, photographers, and videographers—who ensure everything runs smoothly. The beauty of a runway show is that it’s an incredible collaboration of talent, and when everyone is aligned, magic happens(fingers crossed).

The Details:

Where Dreams Meet Reality Once the vision is in place, the real work begins. Venue scouting(this is slightly frustrating), coordinating fittings, finalizing guest lists, and, of course, scheduling rehearsals. It’s in the details where things can get tricky—models running late, lights not working as planned, last-minute changes to the lineup, someone cant find a shoe or the zipper on the back of two designers dresses just popped... But here’s where thinking big comes in handy: when you anticipate greatness, you learn to roll with the unexpected. One of the most rewarding things about producing a runway show is watching how all these moving parts come together in real-time. It’s chaos, but it’s beautiful chaos. The key is to keep a cool head, remember that not many people even know that there is a catastrophe and stay focused on the end goal—delivering a seamless, unforgettable show. I have always had a rule that in my house we call RULE #1- DON'T FREAK OUT.

The Big Moment:

Lights, Camera, Action Then comes the moment you’ve been building toward. The house lights dim, the music kicks in, and the models take their first steps down the runway. For those few minutes, time feels like it slows down. All the hard work, stress, sleepless nights, and rehearsals come together into one perfect performance. As a producer, this is the moment where you feel both exhilarated and at peace. Exhilarated because the audience is seeing the magic you’ve been working toward, and at peace because you know you gave it your all. There’s no feeling quite like it. Thinking Big, Dreaming Bigger Producing a runway show isn’t just about putting on a great performance—it’s about thinking big and pushing yourself beyond what you thought was possible. It’s about taking risks, embracing challenges, and not settling for anything less than extraordinary. When you think big, you not only inspire yourself but also everyone around you. A runway show isn’t just about showcasing fashion—it’s about creating an experience that resonates with the audience and leaves a lasting impression. The only way to do that is to go all in—believe in your vision, trust your team, and execute with everything you’ve got.

Closing Thoughts:

The Power of Thinking Big If there’s one thing producing a runway show has taught me, it’s that thinking big changes everything. It forces you to see the bigger picture, embrace the unknown, and lean into your creativity. And the best part? When you think big, you inspire others to do the same. Whether it’s a runway show or any other project, the key is to dream boldly, execute passionately, and never let fear stand in your way. The path may not always be smooth, but the result is always worth it. So, if you’ve got a dream—whether it’s producing a runway show or building something else extraordinary—don’t wait. Think big, take the leap, and make it happen. The runway is yours. Now go and light it up. I believe in you!
