Life: The Revolving Door We Can’t Escape (And That’s Okay)

Ever feel like life is just one giant revolving door? The kind that never stops spinning, no matter how many times you try to step out for a breath? You push through one thing, thinking, “Okay, this is the moment I catch my break.” Then boom—next thing you know, you’re facing another spin, another chapter, another “something”.

I, lowkey, have a tiny obsession with revolving doors, they are so fascinating to me because they represent how I view life so perfectly…

My favorite thing about revolving doors is that they keep you moving, whether you feel ready or not. Maybe, just maybe, that’s the beauty of it.

When Did Life Get So… Fast?

Somewhere between my 30th birthday and now, life turned into a mix between a marathon and one of those reality TV shows they were at first kind of funny, but then very quickly turned into the center of a hurricane. With mortgage payments, jobs that demand more than my capacity allows, kids (or pets) with limitless energy, friendships that shift with the seasons or with the changing of my socks—each twist and turn makes it feel like I am barely hanging on. But guess what? I am hanging on. That’s the magic. Even when it feels overwhelming, I’m doing it.

As Stevie Nicks sang in “Landslide,” (one of my all time favorites!!)

“Well, I’ve been afraid of changin’ / ‘Cause I built my life around you / But time makes you bolder, children get older / I’m getting older too.”

Maybe you’re not the person you were a decade ago—and that’s okay. Life keeps moving, and we have no choice but to move with it. Even when we resist change, the door still revolves, nudging us forward.

Let’s Redefine the Chaos

What if, instead of being frustrated by the constant motion, we saw it for what it is: growth. Every push, every spin, is molding us into the people we’re meant to become. The tough days? They’re just pit stops. The mistakes? Those are dance breaks. And the victories? Well, those are the moments we live for.

Take comfort in the words of Albert Einstein: “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” There’s no standing still—not really. But maybe we weren’t meant to.

Embrace the Spin

So if you find yourself in the middle of the revolving door, slightly out of breath and not sure which way is out, pause for a second. Look around. Appreciate how far you’ve come. You’re still standing, still moving. And if you stumble—because let’s be real, everyone stumbles—you’ll keep going. The door will nudge you forward, even when you’re ready to sit down and give up.

Remember: You’re not alone in this wild spin cycle. We’re all in the revolving door together, laughing, crying, and dancing through it as best we can. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll find moments of peace in the motion.

Now go cue up that Stevie Nicks classic, take a deep breath, and keep moving forward. You’ve got this. The door may never stop—but neither will you.

I believe in you!
